Learn How To Type Faster!

I haven’t been practicing lately so I only top out at about 95wpm (words per minute), but with continued training it is fully possible to kick your typing speed up to 160wpm or even higher.
Why am I mentioning these speeds? Because the average person’s handwriting speed is somewhere around 25-35wpm where the words are short and speed is at the maximum. I only write 20wpm by pencil so when I’m typing, the advantage is pretty obvious.

It’s so much easier these days to type with computer keyboards. I can remember the days when we had to make do with the old manual typewriters where half the time we were not sure if the fingers were striking the keys hard enough to even make an impression. Now all you have to do is to rest yourrrr finger lighttttllllyyyy on a particular key and the computer does the rrrrrrrrrest. Touch typing was taught then, and is still as useful now. I look at kids these days typing on the computer keyboards and really admire the speeds they achieve, and I think 160wpm would be a rather conservative figure.
And you are right about how slow we write. I regret laptop computers were not invented those days when we attended lectures. Taking down lecture notes would have been a breeze. As it was, finger cramps were the in thing then.
